Its been a while since my last post - as the field season ramps up time in the office has been squeezed. But as the days lengthen and we get more sun the conditions for photography improve, and the imagery coming in from our time-lapse cameras pointing at the Elwha delta are really nice. This on-going effort is designed to further our understanding of the dynamics of the Elwha River plume and to track gross changes to the morphology of the river mouth.
This last series that came in from Fox Point is really nice - the plume is mesmerizing as it swings back and forth under the influence of tidal currents. The lower tides at the end of this series (early May) also show some of the morphologic changes we are seeing at the river mouth...
